An aspiring artist from an early age, it was Robert Duncans childhood summers on his grandfathers ten thousand acre Wyoming cattle ranch that deeply instilled in him a love of nature and rural life that continues to be the central focus of his life and art today. Duncans career began to flourish in the early 1980s after he was juried into the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America organization. While he paints a variety of subjects ranging from pure landscapes to wildlife and figurative works, he is most recognized for his Native American subjects, with a particular focus on the daily lives of Ute, Crow and Blackfeet tribes and their interaction with the environment and nature.
