Use of Silk Velvet
The back and edges of 17th century mirror frames were covered in silk velvet, most often burgundy in color. I currently have a supply of burgundy silk velvet for use in covering my mirror frames. 1/2 yard is enough for either mirror frame sold by Thistle Threads.
