It is entirely handcrafted using natural colors. Kalamkari in Srikalahasti has been around for approximately 200 years. Unlike other places where this particular craft is practiced, artists in srikalahasti retain the ancient techniques of dyeing that have been passed down through generations. As it is hand-painted or handcrafted, color spread and irregularities in design are common; hence, it won’t be considered damaged or defective.
