Thread Structure

These spangles are handcrafted by Mark Atchison, the same blacksmith who created the spangles for the Plimoth Jacket. Made using traditional techniques, Mark hand-punches each spangle from a strip of gilt silver with two hand-forged punches. Authentic in every detail, the spangles feature the characteristic nicks at the bottom of the teardrop shape and the flat edges that result from the historic handcrafting process.

Uses of Lace Spangles

If youve ever wanted to rim your project with authentic metal bobbin lace, the 9drm Gilt and 90% Silver Tambour threads in the shop were specifically developed for the Plimoth Jacket lace and pair perfectly with these spangles. Sold individually, the spangles allow you to purchase just the right number for your lace pattern and desired length. Preload the spangles on the metal thread and wind around the needed bobbins. When the spangle is needed, push it up to the forming picot.
